Heating Dubias

What does everyone do, exactly, to heat their plastic Dubia bins? I am a beginner with one Leo, living in a fairly cold area. It makes me nervous to heat a plastic bin when all the heat pads say not to. I am pondering putting an Exo Terra Heatwave Rainforest mat on a SIDE of the bin, although I don't see info about how hot that mat actually gets. I guess I'm trying to find something very simple, but maybe a more complicated set up is just necessary, especially with my concerns. Comments greatly appreciated!

I have taped a large heat mat to the outside of the bin (one side). I have the temp probe to a thermostat routed to the inside wall and set the unit to the highest temp it supports (94 F for my model) in order to provide a safety control in case of heat mat malfunction. I also have a cheap little temp/RH monitor inside the bin so I can keep tabs on air temp and humidity.
