You should not even need a basking light. They stress leo's out. The undertank heater should reach 90 easily. You really need a thermostat with UTH's because they can and do get too hot. I would invest in a new UTH and a dimmer/Thermostat

I have an question: I have a 15 wide gallon tank with ledges for climbing, humid hide warm, cool hide, dry-warm hide, infrared heat lamp(50watt), Penn PLax heat mat 10x11 16 watt with a thermostat, 12X12 textured ceramic tile on warm side that is slightly cool under the MAGNATURALS magnetic ledges (amazon.com) and they are toxic free and safe, cool side has reptile carpet with water dish.
The ceramic tile holds the heat from the heat lamp, but the under tank heat mat doesn't seem to warm up the tile much or it seems that way (it has to go through glass and tile to get the surface to warm at 90°. I was wondering if I should have just put it inside the tank under the tile since it is on a thermostat that keeps the temperature steady.

I know I need a 20 wide tank, I am limited on where the tank can go.
I also have a problem with the humidity that hangs around 60% to 70% night time and 60% day time sometimes climbs up , couple of times it went down to 50%. I live in the tropics with high temps and humidity; my bedroom I keep at a cool 77° and have the dry cycle on (AC), but doesn't seem to do much. Amira seems OK and adventurous at night after pooping and eating, I am always concerned on the humidity knowing I need to keep it down around under 40% or below 50%.
Should i get a 75 watt infrared heat bulb and work with that or just keep it the way it is now and buy another 10x11 16 watt heat mat and put it inside the tank under the tile?
I am still trying to figure out this heat mat and if size means puts out more heat or the wattage is the one to go by.
I have been going through different brands and the one brand that stick and stays is Penn Plax. The others tend to fall off the bottom of the glass and the heat fails after a while

Sweetgecko its not exactly polite to hijack someones help thread.

Moe&Mel:

I purchased this exact UTH for a 20 gallon long Viv:

http://exo-terra.com/en/products/heat_wave_desert.php

and purchased this exact dimmer from lowes:

http://www.lowes.com/pd_70717-539-T...uctId=3189447&Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1

I have the dimmer turned almost off and it gets (on the low end) around 86 on full power I think the UTH will get 100+(too hot)

This isn't to influence you to get the ones I did but I've had absolutely no problems yet.

moe & mel - you could try sandwiching the uth between the glass and some tin foil. I've done this before to direct more heat up when I was using tiles as a substrate. I'd recommend getting an infrared thermometer to get the most accurate floor temps as well. The infrared thermometers are very useful even if you are using a thermostat to try and regulate temps
