do you have a UTH?
If i were you i wouldnt use a light inless there is no light in the room your leo is in but then just raise it so it gives no heat to the leos. I would also get a thermostat for your UTH
so if you don't already have one get a
1.)UTH-about $10
2.)thermostat-about $25

I live in hot climate area too; in summer it gets to ~35 degrees celcius and doesn't get much cooler at night. I don't use any lights, as David had said, an UTH with thermostat is enough. On the very hot summer days, I do open my air conditioning for them (just a window unit in their room).

If you could tell us how you have your tank set up and temps we could help you more. Leopard geckos don't need heat from a light but they do need heat from the bottom. Thats why an Under Tank Heater UTH is needed.
