Heating question very urgent!

I am Taking my Leo to the beach for a week he has a plastic carrying container and we plan on feeding him only mealworms for the trip. I'm worried that I couldn't use the lamp because it might melt the plastic. I'm leaving soon and I need help! What do I do? Will he be fine without it? Will the lamp be ok? I'm also worried that of I use the lamp it will be to hot as the case is only eight inches high. I need help quick!

You really shouldn't be using a lamp anyways unless your ambient temp is super cold. They need belly heat, not basking heat. Go pick up a heat mat and a thermostat, it will do your Leo a world of good. I use heat tape for my hatchling rack (all plastic tubs) and it doesn't melt it or anything.

I was thinking about a heat mat but I don't have the time or money right now we leave tomorrow do you think I should bring the lamp or leave it?
