Heating Question

Hey guys, I have a question about heating. I have been using a heat lamp+heat bulb to get the right temperature, but my darn heating pads keep dying. I leave the heat sources on 24/7. I'm pretty sure that the heating pad isn't working anymore, but with the bulb on the hot side is probably about 90-92 degrees. Is that high enough? With the bulb+heating pad it was around 95 or so. The cool side is around the mid 70's. I am planning on moving my leo in to a 40 gallon exo tera cage. I don't want to keep wasting money on heating pads when they don't last long/I don't even need them. Is it ok to just use a bulb? I am using slate tile as a substrate, and it absorbs the heat from the lamp. Will this suffice as belly heat, even though the heat is coming from above? Also, should I turn the heat off during the day and turn it on at night to help the bulbs last longer, or should I keep the bulb on and keep the temps constant? Thanks!

Also, I wanted to add that with just the heating pad and no heat lamp in use, the hot side temperate was probably in the mid to high 80's with the appropriate sized heating pad for a 20 gallon long.

the heat can come from above and the slate retains the heat well.what kind of bulb is it.is it the kind restaurants use to keep the food hot. I used to use infrared bulbs..the main thing is they get 90-95 deg belly heat
