Heating/Temp confused!!

Ok so I have been reading and hearing so many different things regarding the temp and heat sources for my new Leo.

I bought a 10 Gal. Zilla desert kit from Petsmart which comes with a 50W day bulb and a 50W Night Glo, and I also purchased a Zoo med 10 gal UTH.

I have the UTH underneath its cave hide on the warm side as well as the 50W day bulb, and then I have the cool bulb on the right side on its cool side.

My worry is that I have been told to leave the day bulb on and the night bulb and no heat pad, then have been told to use only the heat pad, and also told to use the heat pad and the day bulb on one side and not have a night bulb.. I mean so many different things have been told to me that now I am confused.

When I just had the overhead lamp on it seems like the thermometer read 80 degrees before I got the UTH, but I know they should have the UTH for its belly heat and digestion. I am just worried the heat pad will get to hott.

I dont know if I should leave the pad on 24/7 and no lights or what. PLEASE HELP! I am confused and dont want any harm to my Gecko.

I currently have the UTH on with the night bulb to give it a little extra heat becuase just the mat at night without any bulb is like 70 overall from what the thermometor says.

Use only the heat pad. Leos do not benefit from lights. You need to get a digital laser thermometer to get a true temp reading.

You can get rid of those heat lamps. You only need a heat pad :) You will need to get digital thermometers with probes (two) to measure the warm side (where the heat pad is at) and the cool side (where it is not at). If the heat pad says under 90 degrees F, then buy a thermostat. Zoo Med's 500R Thermostat is cheap and does the job Good luck!
