My name is Bob and I live on Florida's west coast - just outside of Tampa. Originally from Massachusetts, I've been living here for 20 years. I love all animals, but leopard geckos are my latest venture, having won a deluxe gecko habitat at a pet shop grand opening last Christmas. I'm marrried and have two kids. I also have two dogs, a 9yr old American Staffordshire Terrier and a 3yr old Boston/Jack Russell mix that looks like a minature Pitbull. I'm a hobby breeder of song and color canaries, have four fish tanks, turtles and let 5 feral cats call my back yard and garage home. I've trapped them, fixed them and given them all their shots. They just can't live in the house with all the birds I own.
I aspired to be a marine biologist, but dropped out of college to work for the United States Postal Service. No regretts - they've treated me well. I've also done landscaping work on the side and tended bar. I love most sports, Amsrican muscle cars and classic and alternative rock music. I'm happy to have found this forum and will post pics of my animals one of these days. Glad to be here!! Bob

I've seen some "red factor" ones at my local small herp/pet shop. What's that all about?
Well, as you probably know the "normal" color of wild canaries are shades of yellow, brown or bronze. In the early 1900's, a fertile cross was developed between a canary and a wild red Venezuelan finch. This allowed breeders to produce canaries ranging from pale orange to bright red. Red factor refers to the gene that allows for this red color. Here is one of my babies from this year. Bob

What is all this talk about birds? Lets see your Leos
Sorry I got sidetracked. I was asked a question that could best be explained by a picture. I put the leo pics in the "show us your leos" topic. BTW Rich, I was wondering how you list your location as Illinois but have the same area code as me. Never mind, I figured it out. ;) Bob
