Hi,

I just got a leopard gecko last night, so thought I'd join this forum so I can learn as much as possible. I have done alot of research on leopard geckos, but one cannot always find every answer. Specifically I was wondering two things. How long before she stops trying to climb out of the aquarium? And two, is it normal for her not to eat anything for the first 24 hours? Nerves etc??

Thanks
David :)

I sort of wondered if it was nerves. They also told me not to try and pick her up for like 24 hours, but instead just let her get used to my hand. So that's what I've done, and she already walked into my hand and checked it out on her own. :)

I haven't taken her out of her aquarium. I just lay my hand on the bottom and she walks in every time. The guy at the pet store said she was his favorite and he handled her all the time, so she might be used to human contact. She was there longer than most geckos cuz no one wanted her after she grew. When she goes in my hand I just leave it there...she looks around, turns a few times, licks me, then walks out.

I'm in the Fort Myers area

Hello and welcome to GF. There is no telling if your Leo will ever stop trying to escape. It is normal for them to not eat much, if at all, until they are more familiar with their new surroundings. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
