Hello :) I'm Kathryn from NJ... currently I have (besides some cats) a leopard gecko, a crested gecko, a red bellied turtle, two bearded dragons, two fire bellied toads, an albino corn snake and a european horn nosed viper.

I practically grew up on the boardwalk. My parents had games or variety stores up there until I was in my 20's.

Awesome critters! Oh, and welcome aboard.

Just curious, is the european horn nosed viper venomous?

Vipera ammodytes, so yep. Not badly though, and he will remain quite small. Probably less dangerous than some of the spiders and snakes you can find out in the Pine Barrens around here (timber rattle snakes, black widows and brown recluses are not unheard of)

Nice to hear from some other Jersey people as well :)

Thanks, and yeah, I figured with the word "viper" in the name that it would be. Wasn't sure though if it was a real viper or a mock viper. Very awesome snake by the way.

I've been to the Pine Barrens a few times. I'm into the Paranormal, so we went there to hunt the "infamous" Jersey Devil. Also, I went fishing a few times at Lake Atsion.

Yep, I'm not too far from that lake. Creepy ass lake though lol it's pitch dark form the cedar water. You can find loads of weird critters out there..

Very true... but, it's a great lake for bass. We caught several large ones there, of various kinds. Stripe, Spotted, Largemouth, etc... the Barrens are creepy as heck at night. But, we had a blast.

wow.............didn't know there were many people from southern NJ that shared a love for reptiles. Kathryn; your animals are absolutely gorgeous....I love the European Horn Nosed viper. I myself am from southern NJ; close to the Delaware Border. Any good shows comming up in the southern Jersey area; love going to the reptile shows and seeing some "new" species or morphs.

Nothing good in NJ really ever.. I go to PA because the laws are more lax for this kind of stuff. I'm going to Repticon at the end of the month, which is totally not my thing because I know how strict it is, but I have a family friend who is a few years younger than I am and he is totally into reptiles now and has been begging his mom to take him to a show... I figure we'll go to Repticon since it is stricter vs some of the shows I've been to which are pretty insane.
