Heya everyone ^^. I'm Merli, I come from Upstate, NY, nice to meet all of you! I joined last night and have been lurking for a little bit. I've recently caught the reptile bug, although I've wanted to keep reptiles for a long time. Sadly, my lizard died a few weeks back but it was something I kind of figured was going to eventually happen, especially with the way I came about obtaining her.
I work at a local grocery store, and sometimes in the summer we get spiders in our grapes and such, but last August a little lizard came in with our grapes, at first I thought she was dead because she was not moving, but we put her in a little deli cup and after she warmed up a bit she became quite active. I fell in love with her on the spot. From what I've been told, she was a Western Fence Lizard, also called a blue-belly, or swift. I knew she wouldn't survive our winters (And it's been a particularly nasty winter) so I took her home and gave her a home, I've had her for six long months until she suddenly stopped eating up to the point where I had to have her euthanized :/. The vet I took her to, thought she might have had some sort of parasite or disease that was just starting to catch up with her. I was very upset. But, to relieve some of my sadness, I began doing a lot of research on lizards, leopard geckos in particular, and I've fallen in love with the little guys. I plan to get one in April after I come back from vacation.
But, if anyone is interested, here's a pic of the little monster (which I kinda ended up naming her because of her eating habits XD). This pic doesn't really do her justice, you can't really see all of her coloration, she was absolutely beautiful, she had little green specks down her back :3.
