Hello, I'm Kelsey. I own one leopard gecko, Cleo.
I've had her for a few weeks now, I'd like to say that I rescued her from a friend of mine that was too busy for her and because they didn't have a good relationship to begin with. Her very first owner was trying to starve her to death and my friend rescued her from them. So she's been rescued twice!

Anyway.. once upon a time little Cleo had a good set up in a 10 gallon aquarium tank, now she's in a terrarium with a wall to climb to a basking rock and a moist hide. Cleo is 3-4 years old, I'm assuming closer to 4 though. She was very underweight when I received her and since she's been in my care she's gained weight, her tail is getting a bit more plumper each day and she has one hell of an appetite.

I use paper towel for substrate, she has one cave, one moist hide, and light for heat (at the moment), a water bowl, and a high up basking rock. I feed her up to 7-9 crickets covered in calcium + D3 powder daily, sometimes more depending on how many of the little buggers are attached to a piece of egg carton.

I plan on getting a proper heat source for her but I seem to be having troubles with finding a good cheap but reliable heat source, I'd like to have a small heat pad but I'm not sure where to really get one without having to spend $30+ I've looked up heat tape but apparently that requires a lot more than a pad does. I really don't have a lot of money but I need to have a happy healthy gecko especially since she's had a rough life so far.

My first post about this: http://geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=75215

I'm trying really hard to be a good gecko owner.

She definitely needs belly heat...order a heat mat online, they are well under $30 even if you pay shipping. You'll need a probe type thermometer on the floor of the warm side, keep it between 88 and 95 degrees, in order to maintain the temps between within that range you'll need a rheostat (lamp dimmer), you can get those for $10 @ Home Depot.

Hello Kelsey and welcome to GF and the member's will help you out but you really should'nt be giving her calcium everyday, 2-3 times a week is enough for an adult as you can give them to much.
