Hello everyone!!! I'm a new member here! I hope to have many amazing conversations with you all! :)

This is Cecil! (see-sill) lol.

She is 2 years old, and all I know about her is that she's a leopard gecko, haha.

There seems to be so many different names and varieties for them out there, does anyone know what kind mine is? Or am I being stupid? Hehe, thanks!!

Hi, I am a new member here too. Cecil is a purty girl! There are a lot of different morphs of geckos and a lot of information here to digest it all. She looks to me like a normal but I am by no means an expert lol.

She looks great! I would say she is a normal, but she could be a high yellow, I cant tell from the coloring of the pic. One thing I do suggest is changing the sand to a solid substrate along with adding 3 hides to the enclosure. Im not sure if you know, but sand can cause impaction, or a blockage in the intestines. It is caused when sand is eaten by accident by the gecko and all of it is unable to be digested. Some good substrates are paper towel, newspaper, or tile.

She looks like a really healthy normal. I'm guessing since this is your first post, she's your first. Why don't you tell us about her cage & we can help you make sure she's one happy gecko :)

hello everyone!!!
thanks for all your comments on her, she IS beautiful ;) hehe

yes, she's my first gecko :) and i think my only, unless i decide to get more in the future (after college)

i have been thinking about changing her sand to paper towel, but i've had her in sand for 2 years, ever since she was a baby...this won't affect her behavior at all will it? I guess what i'm trying to say is, she wont "miss" the sand, will she?

Her cage is a 10-gallon regular old fishtank. She's been in that since I've gotten her, too. She has a moist box made from a ziplock container thing, and it is moist paper towel that I change every day. I know there's moss or something you can make it out of, but I have no idea what it is, or where to get it at...does anyone have any help for me??

I highly doubt she will even know you changed to towels. A humid hide is just a box with a hole in the side or top that allows the gecko to access humidity and assists in shedding. All you need is a container with a hole and towels or moss in the bottom to hold the moisture.

Welcome to Geckoforums! :D You have a very nice looking girl there! She looks to me like a very nice Normal or Hi Yellow. Looks nice and healthy! She shouldn't notice the change to paper towels at all. That's all I use, and it's easy as heck to clean, too! ;)

I agree, she should miss it at all. If anything, she will thank you :D
The moss is called sphagnum moss and you ca buy it from pet stores or online at llreptile.com. BTW, are you using a UTH or an overhead light?

Welcome to gecko forums. Hope you enjoy everyone here. I also live in Michigan. Have you ever been to the reptile show in Taylor?

Thanks again for all your comments on her...I will be changing her cage to paper towel after I get home from work :)

I use a UTH on the side with the cricket dish, and an overhead lamp, as well.
