Welcome! I'm no expert, but people here are happy to answer any and all questions. We'd rather see people ask them than not and have the reptile suffer the consequences. So feel free to ask away. :)

Welcome Lonit! IMO understanding temperature should be you main priority, as it can impact your gecko most in the short run. Then, supplements, food and preventing shedding issues. If you get this down, they're pretty bullet proof.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys :) I have an undertank heat mat, as well as one attached to the side of the tank, but do i need a lamp as well? They are nocturnal, so i assumed the belly heat would be sufficient. Also, i fed him a cricket yesterday, but he doesnt seem to want one today. It was a bit smaller than his head (about a medium sized cricket) but i think hes full. I was told they eat every day while theyre young, so whats up?

I don't use a light with my leo, just a black light for effect. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. I also use an UTH and CHE which keeps the temps at a good range. With not wanting to eat, he might just not be interested or still getting used to his new home. I would keep offering just to see if he changes his mind about eating. I have a 5 yr old that I rescued so I don't have experience with baby leo's so I'm not really sure what else you would be able to feed him...maybe some small mealies? I'm sure he will eat soon when he is hungry!

It depends entirely on how much heat those UTHs produce. If it provides enough heat and it gets some ambient light for a day/night cycle (which they still need), then you don't need a light. What are your temps and how are you measuring them?

You should feed more than one cricket. It should be smaller than the space between its eyes, and they should eat several a day. But sometimes leos don't eat the first few days in a new place because of all of the stress. Avoid handling it for at least a week to let it settle in and just keep offering food.
