try blending meailies in with some vita dust and put it in a syringe. Ive heard that works or try something REALY wiggley like phoniex worms if you can. Our even a couple of waxies. Have you takin him to the vet to see if there's impaction?? Marcia says to soak them in warm sugar water for 10 to 15 minuts to help losten impaction. There's more she says but its early for me.

NO... soaking in sugar water will NOT help impaction. It helps with prolapses.

John, we need some information from you on how the gecko is housed and kept before we can offer assistance to you.

How long have you had this gecko? How is it housed? Does it have an undertank heater? What are the temperatures on the bottom surface of his enclosure? Has it pooped at all?

The floor temperature on the bottom surface of the warm side needs to be 90-94 degrees. Are you measuring the air temp or the surface temp?

Also, was this gecko skinny when you got it?

Try to measure the floor surface... the air temperature is not that important unless it's too hot.

The little gecko is a male, and appears to be a albino-patternless. I would strongly suggest dropper-feeding some of my SLURRY to this little guy and getting a fecal sample in to the vet ASAP to check for parasitic infection.

FWIW, there is always a risk when purchasing animals from a pet store, and it's advisable to always chose one that appears healthy.

I understand where you are coming from by buying 1 to try to save it. I get to the point where I just can't go in a couple stores that sell them because they never look very healthy so I want to get all of them and care for them. So I stay away from them and hope if enough die in their inventory they will change their housing and care for them properly. It may sound mean but if I buy them the stores will just keep ording more.

I found TWO petstores with healthy animals... and ONE of them I plan on selling to. (thats how good they are) I almost bought a hide at this pet store just so they'd put it in the leos cage.

Marcia. I almost put a link to your slurry on this thread. LOL Man, so close but so far off.

Exactly! I used to take a LOT of sickly geckos from pet stores, and most of the time I wound up with a lot of dead geckos and huge vet bills... not to mention putting my gecko colonies at risk for contamination.

I totally understand about wanting to help at least one of them, John! I thinks it's great to try and do something for this little one. Just make sure all it's environmental needs are met, get some slurry (or at least some baby food squash) in it's tummy so it will poop, and get the stool to a vet to rule out parasites. Many infections can be taken care of successfully if caught and treated in time.
