We have had our baby leo for about a month. He has had a good appetite, eating 3-6 crickets per day and about 10-12 days ago started eating meal worms as well. Now he has stopped eating. Last cricket eaten was 3 days ago. He hasnt pooped in 3 days, but still pees daily. Soaked him in a 1/2 water 1/2 pedialite bath at about 90 degrees for 15-20 minutes tonight. He hated it. Tried to rub belly but he fought the whole time. He has a dark spot on his belly that would move around as we rubbed it. I did notice moss in his last stool, so we took it out and replaced with paper towels. The moss was in his hide log. He is on carpet and paper towels. Temp is 90-95 on his hot side and 75-76 on his cool side. I change his water daily and remove paper towel where he goes to the bathroom daily. His tail is still nice and fat but I worry that it wont be for long if he keeps this up. What should I do???

The dark spot on the gecko's tummy that moves around is it's gall bladder. This is especially noticeable with younger geckos, and nothing to worry about. I also would not worry about a gecko that hasn't eaten or pooped in 3 days. Soaking it and probing it will only stress it out, which can contribute to loss of appetite. If the gecko is not losing weight, lethargic, or has abnormal stools... I would suggest leaving it alone for several days and see if it gets hungry. I know how it is to worry about our little babies, but remember as they grow they will need to eat less often.

Thanks. Hopefully we are just being overly cautious. We did talk about it last night and my husband and I think it has been more like 5-6 days since he last ate or pooped. I saw him eat a cricket last saturday and he ate 2 meal worms sunday and pooped last sunday. I always give him 3-4 crickets, watch him eat, then give more if he is still hungry or take out whatever he does not eat. This way I always know he is eating and the crickets dont pester him or eat his tail. Other than not eating or pooping he is acting normal. He has always been fairly lazy. He doesnt look like he has lost any weight and his eyes are clear. Any sugestions as to how long to wait until I try to bathe him again or try the mineral oil or baby food?
