i just got this cute little leo. shes a normal het bell and she was hatched right around 6/1 (maybe 5/28) either way she got out so i let her roam a bit, but the cats were getting too interested. when i was trying to chase her down, i made a loud noise, or possibly something fell near her and she dropped her tail.

she's a small leo, and didn't have a very fat tail although she's been eating well and her poos look great. i've been feeding her small dubia, and she has a capful of calcium mixed with calcium with d3. i haven't had a chance to make her a humid hide (but she has 1 warm and 1 cool hide), but i've read that they usually shed soon after they drop their tails, so ima make one now. just to mention -- shes on slate tile

i've never had a leo before. is there anything i can do to ensure healthy tail growth?

her (and her sister's) temps are 85-95, depending on the time of day. i put the dropped tail in there because i heard they eat it for the nutrients. I think she's too young for that.

I'd say take the dropped tail out, that can't be good for her if it sits there.

All's you really need to do is make sure you keep her tank extremly clean, and keep the wound clean. I'd also probably seperate her from her sister too, it would probably be better for healing. She should be fine.

One of my adult females dropped her tail a couple months ago. She turned out to be find, just make sure to keep the cage clean so it doesn't get infected. I put some neosporin on it a couple of times but it is not required. Take the tail out, though.

awesome! thanks for the pix, made my gf feel alot better -- she was stressin lol

think i should seperate them? i don't know if it would make much of a difference either way because they've been living together forever so far.

i made a humid hide for her, and put a bit of neosporin on it last night. she seemed to be eating well. although i didn't witness it, there were barely any dubia left this mornin

i'll take any advice. thanks again

As long as you don't see the other one picking on her and she is getting enough to eat and seems healthy it shouldn't be a problem. Don't put much more neosporin on it. I did it twice and that did the trick.
