Soak him in some warm water as it sounds like he has some stuck shed on his toes, thw warm water will loosen it up and then you take your finger and rub back in fourth on his feet and it will come off, best of luck.

If his toes are bleeding it likely had shed on the tips of his toes from a previous shed and you just missed it. Is it albino? The albinos shed blends in so well that you can miss small bits of shed stuck to the tips of its toes. That shed eventually constricts the tips of the toes and can cause a localized infection that unfortunately results in the loss of its toes. Hopefully this is not what has happened to your leo, but it is possible.

You can get some Animax cream and carefully apply it to those areas....that will arrest any possible infection, reduce the inflammation, and hopefully save his toes, or at least minimize the damage.

Going forward, just before he goes into a shed make sure his moist hide is really moist. Check him after each shed very carefully, holding him securely under good lighting, and use a magnifying glass or 10x jewelers lupe to be absolutely sure all the shed is off his toes. If there is still shed remnants, you can soak him in 1/2 in of warm water in a dish for 5-10 minutes, then carefully rub off the toe shed with a Qtip. That should do it and avoid the bloody toes issue.

Some leos are just not good shedders and you have to check those very carefully right after each shed.

I know someone who did not see shed left around the upper leg of a leo and it ended up losing the entire leg....the leo is fine but of course struggles with three legs now. Sad. Don't let that happen. These are our babies and they count on us for their care.

Best of luck and I hope it is just an abrasion and not toe loss. If you need further help on this PM me and I'll try to help you out. Animax is a prescription so you'll need to get that from a vet.
