if you seal it right then there should be no problem. most people i know will use laminate or floor tiles to cover the inside of the wood cage. making it like a box inside a box. several companys make really nice wood cages and use alum or plex to make the inside water proof.

I clean my tanks every week Im just worried about rot do you know anything about preventing it?

It isn't about you keeping the tank clean, it's about bacteria seeping into the wood that is almost impossible to get rid of. As for rot, sealing the wood will help prevent it, but the smallest scratch that goes unnoticed will allow water ect. to seep into the wood.
