A month or so ago, I bought a uromastyx. I had one before, so I knew about the care. Very hot basking spot and mainly vegans. She is about a little over a year old. She was fat and everything, and active. So I set up her cage, and gave her greens. She didn't eat for over a week. Over that week, I tried setting her up with other veggie items and crickets, but she wouldn't eat them either.

Finally, I gave her a superworm, and she ate it up. So her diet has been superworms ever since. I also have leos, so the supers go to the leos too, and supers are 50 for $4....Expensive. So sometimes, I would have to substitute the uro's food with waxworms, which I have fed to it twice. I don't want it to be obese.

I know that uros need water, but it won't take water due to it's veggie hatred. Each time veggies are offered, she shakes her head and walks all over them. So I have to soak her in luke warm water, so she can get some water in her.

Are there other meat items I can feed her besides supers and waxies? She is going to get bigger, and will soon need more than 10-20 a day. She was housed with a Beardie at the pet store with veggies and some supers, but the beardie may had been the one eating the veggies.

hmmm interesting try flower petals, like roses and stuff. if not try roaches there are substitutes you can use in place of plants, they sell it in pet stores its like fake plants but tastes better for them, i have one just like her she REFUSES anything that looks like plants, but when i bought it she loved it.

Thanks. I'll try that.

The other day, she was interested in my leos and my tortoises that were in the cages by her. I just wonder what can she eat when she gets older and bigger. I heard they can get up to two feet or more.

HI, know this is old, but you need to get it on plant matter. The digestive system is set up for plants not meat. Your going to cause it kidney problems/premature death in the future if it get's fed a high insect diet all the time.

Also the protein metabolism uses water not producing it so dehydration/kidney issues also come into play.
