My new gecko i brought home yesterday has shed on its toes. My friend said that was bad. I wet it to see if it would come off and it didnt. Is this bad or will it just come off over time?

Try a longer soak time and a GOOD humid hide in teh cage or you can try some vasoline and let it sit on there for a few minutes to soften the skin then use a qtip to get it off.

Soaking should be helping. Tweezers should be helpful too if you are good with them. I use my fingers and very gently use them to at least get the skin up from the toe and then gently pull. Don't tug, yank, or do anything that forces pressure on the toe. That could damage them. But just gently pulling so it slides off will work. I've had this happen a few times and only one gecko lost toes, and since then I've solved the issue.
If you get the skin off and the toes look off-colored, bloody, bruised, or just not normal, get some neosporin or something like that and go to the vet. you might lose toes, you might not. If they do lose toes it's not necessarily a "bad" thing in that they will just up and die provided there isn't further infectiion. But, it does make movement difficult and climbing really hard. The one gecko I have is missing a lot of toes and she has trouble climbing, but otherwise she moves around alright.
So tried soaking again and see if it works. Try other things too. That skin should be able to come off with some good soaking...
