Ok I have no experience shipping turtles so this response may be useless to you but a response is better than none right?

Yeah 12 x 9 x 6

Have you been housing him outside or indoors?
You should look at the overnight lows in both your area and theirs since you dont want him to get too cold right?
If indoors - What are the temps your keeping him at now?
- you would want to use a heat pack to keep the temps as close to what he is used to as possible without going too hot.
Im thinking box turtles are not nearly as picky about temps as something like a leopard gecko but you wouldnt want to shock him too much.

Yeah I guess a pillow case or better yet one of those mesh bags would work. Just make sure to pack him in there pretty well with newspaper or whatever packing material your using so he isnt jostled around a lot.

I have shipped turtles before, numerous times.

A 12x9x6 box is perfect in the winter. 2 weeks ago i shipped out an albino lucy red eared slider. I used a deli cup (but i guess your box turtle is larger than a baby RES, so a cloth snake bag should do). Make sure to put plenty of shredded paper inside the bag to add more surface area in the bag and reduce movement. I used a 10x8x8 insulated box and used 2 40-hour heat packs. The deli cup was placed on the far left of the box, tons of newspaper was put around the deli cup so it would not move, and one heat pack wrapped in newspaper was put on the far right of the box and the other one was placed on the lid (left part). No holes were put in the box. The baby turtle made it just fine to its destination (Pennsylvania). Do you know which carrier you will be using to ship? If you dont i would recommend using Shipyourreptiles.com.

here is a video to help you out if you need help visualizing the steps for shipping.

Good Luck and let us know how your experience shipping was.
