My leo just laid eggs last night i do not have a scale in order to measure out the proper perlite/ water mixture for my hovabator. i was going to follow albey's method for substrate mixture to use in my incubator. Could some1 who has the time today or knows already weight out the perlite and water seperately in a measuring cup so i know exactly how many MiliLiters to up into the perlite. I would appreciate it alot since my scale is not arriving for several more days. Or even if some1 knows a method i can use to measure vermiculite or something else and add water by measuring cup. Help save my babies  Thanks in advance

Well I tried this twice to make sure that I'd get the same results. The problem with this is that I weighed out 1 1/2 cups of Perlite, and each time it weighed something different. However, each time took 9 teaspoons to get the water ratio right. So basically, 1.5 cups Perlite with 9 teaspoons of water. I hope this helps!

Also just wanted to note that after you add the water, mix everything very well so that the water is evenly dispersed. When you ball the Perlite/water mixture in your hand, it should clump up but not drip any water.

I don't know if others do this, but I also like to let the container sit in the incubator for awhile so that it can get up to temp. I will admit there was a time when I completely forgot and didn't do this, and it didn't seem to have any effect (I just prefer to do it).

I weigh my vermiculite to 2oz. with 4oz. of water added to it. I use a 1/2 cup measuring cup to scoop it, and it usually comes out to three scoops (1 1/2cups) of verm. and 1/2 cup of water. My water takes a while to heat up so I just turn on the hot water and wait untile it just starts getting warm. I have heard that you can soak the verm. than squeeze as much water out as you can and its good to go,I haven't tried this so I dont know. And I'm not sure about measurements on perlite. hope this helps.(P.S. my scoops are a little on the heaping side)
