alright so i got this guy from our local pet store... they had it labled as a madagascar spiney gecko (sp?) ive tried to google it and come up empty handed... does anyone know anything about this lil guy and how it needs to be taken care of? its small and fast, does not come out durning the day whats so ever, can cling to glass but typically does not, scared to death of much of anything like me lol... yet some how i managed to get him on my hands with out too much of a fuss for a few moments... its very shy though... seems to be doing just fine with small crickets, got a light on top for heat, water dish and misted daily... can anyone help tell me how i should properly take care of him? either way i think he is doing better than where he was... he was given to us out of 2 reasons... we gave them a few irredessent sharks that out grew our tanks and he has a bent tail... wich doesnt seem to bother him at all... so enough with the babble heres the pics... :main_laugh: :main_rolleyes:

There aren't different "morphs" of this species per se...but there are several forms in captivity. Some have been reclassified as separate species (such as P. ibityensis), while others have yet to come under taxonomic review.

Care is fairly simple:

Substrate should be thin and of 75% sand (fine, washed) 25% peat moss. Give them finger thick branches, cork bark, and/or secure pieces of slate slabs. Keep them warm (85-90*F basking spot) during the day, with a 10* drop at night. Maintain a shallow dish for drinking water and spray their cage 2-3 times a week lightly. They'll eat pretty much anything they can fit in their mouth (so easily 3/8" crickets), but be sure to dust with calcium/vitamin regimen.

Pretty much it. Oh and their juvenile coloration is spectacular!

If nothing else rinse the sand. Put the sand in a bucket and fill with water (with in reason) and aggitate the sand. Pour off the water and floating/suspended debris. Do this a few times, until the swirled water is relatively clean and free of debris. Make sure to let the sand dry before putting it in the enclosure. You do not want it too wet.

Just my two cents............and we all know that won't even buy bubble gum!!
