Help with Impaction!

My friend's leo wasn't eating and so she gave him to me to see if I could help him (I've never owned any lizard before). I've been doing lots of research. Maple (the gecko) has a bruise on his belly and isn't eating. He also has skin that needs to be shed on his toes and face. But the problem I am now facing is I believe that he has impaction. I think this was the original problem. He is and was housed on sand (I hope to replace it with tile or other substrate). I found one poop one day but he hasn't pooped since, probably because of his impaction. He is extremely skinny and his tail isn't fat at all (not sure if it should be or not). I need help. What do I do to help him with his impaction?

A few Warm baths each day and try to feed them a few drops of olive oil with a syringe. You need to take them off of sand asap. Paper towel is worlds better than sand. even a layer of fabric is better than sand. Any progress you make will probably be stunted by them eating the sand again.

I second the olive oil suggestion, I mixed it with a little bit of chicken baby food to sweeten it to their liking. If the gecko is handle-able a gentle belly massage (giggling gentle!) from his armpits to his vent will help. Persistency is key to saving the Leo. Try a pedialite solution as well to perk him up, make sure temps are good on his hotspot as it will aid in digestion and breaking it down. Paper towel is a godsend for Leo's. Cheap and so easy to change and keep track of poops. I wish you the best of luck!
