I want to make a moisture hide for my gecko i am getting, but I dont know what to use or whats better :( Im deciding whether to pick All Natural Reptile Terrarium Moss Substrate or Zoo Med Eco Earth Compressed Coconut Fiber Expandable Substrate. I'm going to be using this also when the gecko lay eggs in there, but i guess all geckos lay eggs in the moisture hides lol :D but i would really appreciate the help! :)

I find that a moist folded paper towel works great. For me, the moss and coco fiber was messy, and the crickets tried to hide in it. However, I still use the Coconut Fiber for the lay box.

I use paper towel as well, it's cheap and extremely easy to replace. They often dig just for the fun of it, and make a really big mess with other substrates. It's best not to plan for egg laying yet, just stick with learning the basics.

I go to home depot and get a large back of long fiber sphagnum moss by the indoor plants it works really well and is cheap and they will lay eggs in it as well. 423 cu inches for like 6 bucks and its organic!

I like coco fiber the best.. I get Eco Earth from the pet store because it's more ground and easier to deal with than the expandable blocks. It seems to stay wet longer than paper towels and doesn't mold. When I was using moss it would mold after a couple weeks.

I like the cocofiber but it's also good to mix in other things with it too. moss is nice because it too will be mold-resistant.
