I get all my building materials from home depot and the tubs from walmart. I use the 15qt sterlites for adults and 12qt for hatchlings. The 12qt's are a little big for hatchlings but they grow into them in a few months. I use heat tape for my rack but others use cables fine as well. A cool thing I seen someone do with heat cable was use a router to put trenches essentially on the shelf and then run the cable in the trenches so there was still as nice flat shelf bottom

You don't know where to find wood or nails, yet your going to build a rack and breed? Didn't you lose a gecko recently? Did you ever find it? I'm by no means an expert in building racks, nor have I even given it a shot, but its probably not going to be easy unless you actually have some carpentry and electrical skills, which you may or may not have, I don't know. Or, maybe you should look into just purchasing one prebuilt if your serious about all of this. Best of luck.

Yeah reptilebasics.com has one for 400 so I'd go with that. They do everything and ship it assembled. Even get tubs with it and heat. Just have to get a thermostat which is only like 200 bucks. So 600 bucks and all you need is 32 hides, dishes and a substrate. Count on 800 bucks initial investment. Melamine is what you want if you are building it because it can be constantly heated and doesn't catch fire as easy as wood.
