My dad bought 50 small crickets from a pet store and when I looked into the container there was a caterpillar in with them is that bad?

They're not uncommon. They are dermestid beetle larvae. It's not going to harm your crickets or gecko, but I would get rid of it before it has the chance to turn into a beetle. I hear they can fly. Some people say it's fine to feed the larvae to your gecko, but I've never done that

I'd bet Neon's right with her guess that its a dermestid beetle. I'm pretty sure my leos have eaten a few of the beetle larvae as I keep them in my roach bins to help with cleanup and they sometimes get mixed in. I don't think the pose a threat or can harm your gecko but if they take up residence in your house they get annoying as they'll feed on almost anything.
