Last night i had to go rescue a Leo, she is in extremely bad shape! I belive her to be somewhere around 6 months of age and she weighs 5 grams !!!!

Very frail can hardly walk her tail is way way way skinny (toothpick). When she does walk she is very shaky. I was called over to get her by a realtor who was looking thru a REPO house.

Apparently the gecko has been there since the people left 2 MONTHS AGO!!! No food no water for 2 months.

She is very boney, tail like a tooth pick and missing digits from sheds (I cant get the rest off either!):main_no: I need some input from you guys hurry!

This morning i got her to eat 1 wax worm and 1 meal worm. She looks healthy otherwise, but badly dehydrated and malnourished!

Your input would be wonderful thanks!

Try some of Marcia's slurry and if you can't get the ingredients for all of that we have always used Repti-Aid which you can buy from your local petstore. We use about 1 scoop per a teaspoon of water and it has always worked, (make sure you are buying the one for carnivores/insectivores not herbivores). Other than that eating 1 waxworm/1mealworm is a pretty good start!:main_thumbsup:

Wow, is that even possible?

Apart from what Kimberly and Shanti said, just remember to keep her far from your geckos in quarantine (I'm sure you knew this, but just in case).

Also, even if she accepts food steadily, don't overfeed at first. If she is in such a bad shape, too much food can do more harm than good.

Try not to force feed if you can avoid it. Just leave a little bit of slurry in her lips and she'll lick it.

Im trying to find my camera and take a picture and show you guys and gals.
When i got her home i fixed a tank up for her quickly and got a hot spot and cool spot and 3 hides. I weighed her and was shocked seeing 5 grams on my digi scale.

She has been without belly heat for 2 months and sitting in a house with the heat and AC off. It was 59 degrees in the house when i went and got her.:main_no: :main_no:

that's one tough little gecko to survive that long without anything we traditionally associate with being vital to keeping a leopard gecko. if she made it through all that i'm sure you'll be able to nurse her back to health, good luck and keep us posted.

OMG!!! This is horrible! Feeding her my slurry may help, but if she is willing to eat on her own and has a tummy full of my slurry she will not be hungry. Just make sure she was belly heat of around 90-94 degrees, plenty of water, and only a few mealworms at a time so she doesn't regurgitate.

Good luck with this poor little baby...

thanks

thanks for the input im heading for the pet store when it opens at 11:30, to try and help out this female Leo, lol the kids already named her PICKLE LOAF!

ANy ideas of how to get those crusty sheds off her toes, she has already lost 5 toes total. I didnt wanna try water or warm moist rag because i didnt want to stress her.:main_huh:

I was working more on trying to get her life out of danger before addressing the other things!

Put a humid hide in her tank. If she has lots of retained shed, you may want to soak the paper towels with warm water to make a kind of little sauna for her. That will help her to rehydrate, too.

5 grams, 5 toes... Poor thing.

You could also try sitting her in a small tupperware container of warm water. That'll soak the toes real good. Then if she lets you try to pick off the skin or use dull tweezers. Best wishes to you Pickle Loaf. You're in good hands now!

Pickel loaf

Yes she was the only thing left in the house:main_angry: but......things are looking up she is eating very good now and enjoying her new tank -Hot, Cold, moist hide, rocks, water and plenty of food and love.

I think she has a fighting chance she seems pretty tough! MBD worries me though.

Run to a petco, petland, or some other kind of petstore and buy a bottle of Reptile Bath shed-ease. It might stress the gecko a bit to be put in the bath(you combine it with water, instructions on the bottle) but the stuff is the best thing weve ever tried, even when a gecko had a small spot of shed left on it(not near any toes thank god) for 2 weeks that we didnt see, it came right off with this stuff.
