Hemipenes... Will sugar water help them?

This is the same gecko from http://geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=72492 here but now there are two small yellow-grey things on either side of his vent... I think they are the hemipenes but I am unsure. Pictures will be posted asap. They only seem to bother him after pooping and when the tank gets too dry.

Currently I have been giving him some olive oil, calcium powder and hand feeding him superworms to keep his weight up because he doesn't seem to have much interest in eating although he has some weight stored in his tail. He is now on paper towels and I take him out and soak him in warm water which seems to help a little because he is more active after. I heard soaking him in sugar water helps dry out the hemipenes so they go in on their own but what is the water to sugar ratio? I don't want to overdo it... I was hoping that if I knew the water to sugar ratio I could start doing that to help him even more.

I would prefer home remedies before taking him out to a vet that is over 2 hours away. I no longer go to the one I used to go to because she doesn't seem to know what she is doing.

Thank you for your help!!!

Just got back from the vet... He had two plugs that were removed and he seems to be A-ok otherwise but I was given some appetite stimulant to give him because he has not eaten on his own in over a month. Also I will start giving him chicken baby food to entice him to eat something...
