So I have been thinking of going to school for a bachelors in zoology or biology and try for an internship with the Atlanta zoo or Georgia aquarium. I have always loved reptiles and been super interested in them. I think it would be an awesome job to work as the reptile guy at the zoo or something. I know there is alot of breeders and reptile experts or what not so I am asking for advice I guess. What does anyone think? I believe I still have Hope scholarship aswell.:main_thumbsup:

Animal science is a great field, a lot of specialties available. A lot of theme parks and other attractions have various animals. We have a big alligator park in my town that has a lot of different reptiles. Marine science/biology is big along any coastal state. Good luck!

My answer is "Yes, but..."

If it is a field that interests you, of course you should pursue it. You should take advantage of any opportunities for education that are available to you, learn as much as you can and strive to excel. Always. This is never a bad thing.

However you should also be aware that you are interested in a field in which there is a fair amount of competition. While you'll watch many people who started college with you as fellow biology majors fall by the wayside as you advance through your education* there are generally far more applicants than there are available positions in various biology/zoology related fields. Setting yourself a goal of a specific zoological institution is decent, but you should have a realistic understanding of how competitive obtaining work can be. The more prominent and well regarded the organization, the more and more accomplished the applicants will be.
