Do any of you have issues with ur parents not letting you get another lizard/snake, etc....if you do...let me hear about it...or even if you dnt...my mom is drivin me nuts...lmao....

I kept 150-200 geckos as a 16 and 17 year old. My parents were fine as long as I never had any snakes and I paid for everything myself. Thus, Select Gex was born.

By this I do not mean try to start a "business" but expressing a sincere interest and being able to cover the costs yourself are a big help.

I can pay for it myself...we even have an extra 20gal in the garage and she wont let me use it...even though it wld go in my room...where she wouldnt even have to look at it...erg...she drives me nuts...lol

I got my first snake(retic) at age 13 and my father had no issues with my collection as long as they were taken care of and I kept my grades up. He did make me get rid of my monacle cobra though.... hahaha

Yea see my issue is that my mom is PHSYCO!!! She doesnt want me to have any more pets in the house and even though we have the room and she wldnt have to spend a dime or even look at it the only reason she gives me for saying no is "cuz i said so"...it drives me insaine...and she is a hypocondriact(spelled that wrong) she is allergic to anything with fur but is getting shots for dogs because we have 2 one of which that sheds. I work with animals all the time so I have built up an amunity to them. So my allergies dnt bother me, exept a lil with cats, but Im working with cats now to so that should be gone soon....but anyway me and my friend did an experiment with my dog(before we adopted her, we were fostering) because she would always complain how her "nose itched" and she wld whine and complain about her allergies every time the dog was in the car when we had to drive her to the adoption events at petsmart. Well wat we did was hid the dog in the trunk(we have an SUV so its not an encolsed trunk or w/e) and my mom had no idea the dog was in the car and she was fine, allergies were not bothering her. Then we told her we had the dog in the car, and after yelling at us guess wat happend, she started complaining about her allergies....doesnt that tell ya something....

anyway im just ranting... ....so yea im soooo annoyed cuz i really want a snake and shes being a total bitch...

Just do wat i do just dont tell them i have bought all my own animals i had 2 leos at first now i have 6 males and 15 females and 5 babys.Then i got 2 crested geckos and 3 viper geckos dont tell them and they never know just dont make it look like you got more reptiles

Kinda hard to do...I only have 2 bearded dragons and 1 leopard gecko...and I only have 1 tank in my room and my mom loves to just randomly walk in my room so she will notice if another tank appeared in my room...

My parents were fine with me having many reptiles so long as they didn't have to do anything for them and I paid for most of them... some were gifts so they were pretty open minded and excepting. My mom however always was adamant about no snakes, and her reason was "because I said so" as well. Well when I started selling off some geckos for because of college I got a snake, she was not happy at first but now it doesn't even bother her; she just won't touch it haha.

I have racks full of non breeders....... They are just a way to house geckos that takes up less space.

i use my rack for both its space saving a cheaper in the long run if you want more geckos

My parents are actually cool with my reptiles,although they insist that I dont need more but when I bring them home theyalways want to check them out especially my dad hes starting to really like them. Im sure their not worried if it will become an issue with me having enough money for them since Ive never asked them for money and just got a job.

My mother is very frightened by lizards, so I try only to keep small ones in the house. However she loooves tortoises, I think she would be happy if I decided to start breeding those over geckos.

My dad (my parents are divorced) doesn't care as long as I can take care of them. He really thinks reptiles are interesting, so he doesn't mind me having them. I'll be moving into his house in a week or so, and I already warned him that I will be building up my breeder stock and such like. He was fine with.
