I'm new to this site (okay, so I've been lurking on and off, but am new for the most part). I have a mini zoo that consists of my hubby, 2 kids (ages 15 and 12), a Chihuahua, a Cockatiel, and a Sun Conure.

I, or rather my youngest son, got his first leo (named Stiker) last month. We got him/her from a pet store (please don't boo us). Anyway we have a couple of questions, along with pics of course. One is, what morph is s/he? The place we got him from just said it was a "fancy", whatever that means. Also, is Striker a boy or a girl? Hubby and I are leaning towards boy, but we're not sure.

Thank you in advance for your help!

PS The temp in the tank is not correct. Hubby was rearranging the inside of it when I took the pic. And don't worry, Striker was not inside the tank at the time. He was being held by our son. :)

Welcome! Striker looks cute :)

I'm not good with morphs yet, so can't help you out there sadly. The gender is very difficult to tell unless the gecko is older than 6 months. If it's a boy the V-shaped row of pre-anal pores will darken. Here's a page about sexing if you're interested, there are pictures of male vs female.

Also, just a note, you may want to get night-glo bulbs if you're planning on using lights to heat the tank. Leopard geckos are nocturnal and can be stressed by bright lights. You have an under the tank heater for that too, right? Just checking :)

I'm sure you'll like it here, there are a lot of knowledgeable members!

Thank you for the welcome GOT. :)

I've seen that site before. That's how my husband and I came to the conclusion that Striker could be a boy. But since Striker's our first gecko we're not sure and wanted to ask the members on here.

By the way, we have a night-glo bulb and UTH. We use a daylight bulb during the day. Could that upset the Gecko's sleep pattern, or is this okay?
