hey, i'm looking to get a leopard gecko in the near future and figured this would be a good resource for info and suggestions. i had lizards when i was a kid but managed to screw up with all of them, i think the longest i had one was about a month. i had a box turtle for a long time, lizards just seemed to have it in for me though. anyway, i'm going to be heading to the Mid Atlantic Reptile Show in Baltimore on Saturday so if anyone's going i might see you there...

Welcome!

I'm sure you'll find everything you need here to make sure you don't, "screw", anything up in the future.

Good luck and great to meet you!

looking back after reading some of the threads on here i realized that stress was probably the biggest thing that i didn't know about when i was younger, and ultimately what caused me to have such little success. two of the lizards i had i bought over 4 hours from home and had to transport them myself (no heat pads either, thanks pet store). my first lizard i believe was a collared lizard that i got from a pet store about an hour from my house. it sat in the car after i got it while we went out to dinner but seemed fine when i got it home. i think the problem was that i had it on a sand-type substrate and didn't know about their vitamin/calcium needs. my last lizard was an anole that i got at a fair for playing a carnival game, carried around and brought home on a bus (i figure it probably wasn't that well cared for before i got it and was probably pretty stressed, which being grabbed without warning, carried around and brought home on a loud bus didn't help any).
