Hey guys! I have 2 small i guess juveniles gecko's i got a cpl weekends ago at the Hamburg, PA reptile show. 1 is high yellow and the spotted one i forget what it is :( but awesome looking! lol

Now i did use vita-sand since that is what the breeders at the show told us to use, that is was veterinary approved and easily digestible, but after i brought them home and ac pl days later i was reading the forums and research i guess its not a good thing to use :( i really dont want to use tile or paper towels...is there anything i can use besides the carpet? i saw some nice substrate in Gerryl's post and i like that...what is it? lol
anyways here is a pic of the geckos (in the sand...i know better now, tho i dont see why they would sell something then recommend it and say that it is veterinary approved...)

Anyways anyone tell me what kind the spotted one is?

The top Leopard looks like a stripe............maybe a jungle? The bottom one looks like your Hi-Yellow.
They look old enough to use the Reptile carpet. I use the Zilla Tan collored carpet in my 20 longs.

I think the top one would be an abberant and the bottom one would be a normal or high yellow.
The reasons most recommend the calci sand is for the money. You can use play sand for adults, though it is still not reccomended for young leos. Also others here will disagree about any sand period is bad. I guess to each his/hers own.Anyways congrats on being a leopard owner. And welcome to the forum!!!

I think the top one is a jungle the bottom a hi yellow or normal. I used sand with my girls till they were a year old. Switched to carpet. It looks so nice and its very easy to clean. I have seen it in green brown or grey and you could probably use any color you wanted if you wanted to buy a small piece but it would have to be thin material. Welcome to the forums.

Hi ,welcome to the forum. I personally LOVE using tile. It looks nice and it is so easy to clean. You can get it in alot of natural colors. I have tanks so I didn't like using paper towels and was constantly having to wash the repti carpet. I cannot stand for poo to stay in the tanks so I had to have something that was easy to clean all the time.
