hide and moist hide?

Hey all,
Getting a new leo today and ive been working on the tank. I have small tiles down and on the cool side i have a little hide made of the tiles leaning up making a cave. I have a moist hide made of a paper coffee cup upside down with some moss and a little door. I was just wondering if this moist hide is going to work. I wondered about moisture escaping because its a paper cup, but then I also think that its okay, since its a large coffee cup, made to insulate and not leak. Also, Do i have to have a hide on the hot side? I have a second level with food and stuff, and i guess i could put a hide beneath it if i had to.

finally, do leos need anything specific for just fun/climbing?

thanks

No leos like it real simple and I use a rubbermaid food container with a hole cut in the top so no crickets can crawl into their cool retreat then I use a simple molded plastic hid e that I buy from reptile basics for looks use a cave or somrthing but overall yes ther shouldmbe a hide on the hot side and cool side

Dotworks how would you know this? Unless you can and have talked with every leopard gecko in the world how should you know? My leopard gecko Clementine loves to climb and my other Apollo likes to hide in caves. Leopard geckos all have differing personalities and you should examin or study your gecko to know what he/she enjoys.

Hope this helped.

I am extremely sorry if I offended you Noahboa but all of my leoapard geckos are thriving and eating with a similar setup to the one I described before your comment and i was answering fitto55's question to what i have found to be the least stressful and healthy environment for my animals based upon.my prior experience with these animals.

only thing that worries me about your set up is that you have tiles "leaning" up to form a hide. are they secured together with something? you dont want your leo under one of those tiles if it falls. as far as hides, i use plastic shoe boxes with a hole in the lid for multiple leos, and smaller plastic tubs with holes in the lid for single leos. my moist hide is usually on the cooler side of the tank and i have moist paper towels covered in eco earth. keeps the humidity just fine. they also seem to enjoy toilet paper rolls to hide in.
