I'm setting up for my first Leo, well actually my first reptile pet ever. My husband is helping me with this venture (more as my Birthday present). He ordered most of the items on Amazon, and I can't help but feel that the hides are too huge for just one or two Leos. Any suggestions on how much open space should be in a habitat and what size hide Leos prefer?
We've got:
30 gal tank
screen for top of tank w/ clips (we have a cat)
Light (florescent came with the tank)
ZooMed ReptiTemp Digital Infared Thermo and Hydrofarm Digital Thermostat for heat mats
UTH
Zilla Terrarium Liner (will have to be cut to size) and tile (if we can get it cut to the right size)
ZooMed New Zealand Sphagnum Moss
shallow food dish (we plan on supplementing with worms, I know crickets wont stay in a dish)
shallow water dish
Now for the hides...
ExoTerra Gecko Cave (Large) [this will be lined with moss)
ExoTerra Human Skull Terrarium Decor
ExoTerra Reptile Cave (Large)
The third I have decided will not fit in the tank (poor Loes wont have any room to skitter about)
The Second has rough edges inside, which my husband is going to attempt to smooth down with out breaking it.
A friend gave us a smaller version of the first which we can use for awhile but looks like it would be a real tight fit for a full grown leo.
Plan is to pick up our new house mates around the 24th of this month. We're looking into DIY ideas but that is for further down the road.
