My gecko has been hiding alot lately, I haven't seen him out of his hide in almost a week now, and when I check him he's very cold. I'm getting worried that he may have gotten sick some how, but I'm not sure how it could have happened. I gave him a good meal and he came out to eat, but he hasnt been basking like he used to. The color of his skin is looking fine, but Im just afraid something could be wrong. Please help!

it is spring, is the ambient temp in your house warmer? he may just not need to bask. If he is eating, he is probably alright. Just keep an eye on him, especially at night to see if he is moving around.

All my lizards seem to go through phases, especially in spring and fall when the weather is changing a lot. Sometimes they're out for days, other times I don't see them for days. As long as they're eating and pooping, I let them be. They're smart enough to know what they're doing. If he wants to warm up, he knows where the heat is.

well it's very hot outside, and its been getting cooler in my house lately because the windows have been open all day and night, and just recently we've closed all the windows and put the air conditioning on, so I assume thats affecting what he does.

yes thank you amanda, that makes me feel very reassured. come to think of it he did go through a phase where he was out of his hide almost all the time, so it was sad not seeing him for a long period of time right after

I think about it this way. Geckos live a long time... like 20 years. So they live fairly slowly for a reptile. They go through cycles that can last weeks. Cycles like eating a lot vs not eating, or climbing around vs just chillin'.

Just another of my weird thoughts...

Micheal i know how you feel, I have 7 Leopard geckos and there moods are very different. My youngest Hatchling lost her tail a while ago making her Panick and hide alot more. Though she comes out to play every time im not looking, So just watch behavior in general.
