hot to cold ratio

I have a large heat mat (11" X 17") under a 33gal long aquarium that i want to transfer onto the bottom of a 20/25 gal tank to save money (once i get it, need to save space and 33 is to big for 1 gecko). 20/ 25 gal tanks on average are 24" long. would 6" of cool space be enough, I am planning to build a second level/ hide from stone as well, And get a hammock if i can find one. will this be sufficient? or is it to much heating space?

Sounds like too much heated space to me. The warm area should not be more than 50% of the surface area.

yea, i thought it was 50/50. oh well, cash out some doe for a smaller one i suppose. Gonna save the entire 33 gal set up for a corn snake in the future.
