House carpet as substate

I dont have any reptile carpet,is it safe to use regular old house carpet.I have some extra and cut it to fit the cage and cut of all the edges and frays to prevent impaction, is this safe.

I would suggest placing it in the tank so that the underside is on top. The gecko's claws may get tangled in the normal side of the carpet that faces up in the house, but if the backside of the carpet is flat and doesn't have lots of threads sticking out it might work. That really is kind of a neat idea. Let us know how it goes.

regular carpet is safe but will be nearly impossible to clean and will develop a horrible odor pretty quickly. With any animal that spends its time in a cage keeping things clean will help keep the animal healthy.

i would suggest using something simpler to clean.

I dont really recommend Regular Carpet. Lose thread would be a problem that might cut your gecko's digits of and it may be the hardest to clean.
