Hey guys. I have a Hova-Bator 1602N incubator. I fill up with water the plastic bottom of the incubator and set the temp to 85. The humidity wont go higher then 35%. Why is that? Is it normal? I'm using a Exo-Terra digital thermo/hygrometer. Thanks!

Why are you filling the bottom with water? It's not necessary. If you're trying to hold temperature better, just fill up some water bottles in there. The humidity for your eggs should come from the substrate they're in... perlite/vermiculite/etc

So the incubator only provide a good stable temperature, not humidity? How do u monitor ur humidity inside your box with eggs? U open it once in a while and take a look at it?

For vermiculite and perlite you can follow the water/substrate ratio and put in a closed container in the incubator. Then open the container once a week for fresh clean air flow while checking the eggs for collapsing or anything else. If eggs are sweating, too moist... substrate looking too dry, add more moisture. Usually I only add a little water to my perlite about once a month to keep it moist enough.
