So, as some of you may know, I recently had a successful breeding and am eagerly anticipating eggs!

I bought a hovabator months ago in anticipation of this. The only problem is that it is the model with the fan. Should I dismantle the fan part of it?

Also, I have two choices as far as tempurature regulation.. I need help deciding which to use.
A) I can use my Zoo Med ReptiTemp 500R which, once initially set up, it holds a temp and only fluctuates up or down 2 degrees.
B) I can use my new Herp Power proportional thermostat and continue to use the ReptiTemp for regulating my leo tanks.

Oh, and I've seen some people put bottles or bags of water in the incubator.. What is the purpose of these?

With that fan model, you run the risk of drying out your eggs. If you can at all disconnect it, I'd suggest you do so.

My suggestion here would be use the Proportional with the Hovabator. They are really recommended for incubation.

It acts as a heat sink. What this does, is it holds heat. So when you open the incubator to check your eggs, then close it after you're done checking, it doesn't take so long for the incubator to warm up to temp as it would without the heat sink. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for all your help, Maurice!

And I can see that the fan can easily be dismantled.. I'm going to do so and make sure it doesn't prevent the incubator from warming up.

in my thoughts
well I modified one of my Incubators by adding a PC fan and plugging the holes at the top. That way it is staying very consistent and the temperatures go back to normal really fast after opening the lid. But yeah I agree that the fan the hovabator comes with generates too much heat which would be hard to keep the temperatures low.
Best of luck,
