How active should our gecko be at night?

Our leo doesn't seem to do much at night, at least not while we are awake. He sits on top of one of the hides and that's it. I'm wondering if that is normal. We are currently using heat lamps and the night one only gets the temp to almost 80, which I realize is too low. He sits on top of the hide that is under the lamp, so I'm wondering if he is too cold and so is there to try to stay warm? Or maybe this is normal behavior?

He is probably trying to stay warm. Temps should be closer to 90. Otherwise, I don't think the geckos are too active even at night, at least mine isn't lol, she is content to just occasionally change sleeping positions/locations
