How big to be a giant?

Im not sure if this has been discussed before but i just wanted to ask :)

I did a thread a little while back asking if my male hypo was too fat.

He is a year old now and is big and healthy :D

I decided tonight to get out my crappy scales and see how much he weighs.

Was pretty shocked thats hes about 100g. I know that isnt huge but i was wondering just how big are they to be giant?

The guy in the pet store is about as useful as a chocolate fire guard so im not even gonna bother asking about genetics.

I read that Leos arent adults till 18+ months so im unsure of if Yoshi is at his full size yet.

Thanks in advance for help and opinions :)

And heres a fairly recent pic of my little monster :)

He's about 10" too but its a bit hard to measure him when he would rather climb up my arm or crawl down the back of the viv hehe

Probably. Lots of undeclared Giant offspring floating around these days.

When I sell off my excess babies to pet stores, I give them the information on their hets, but they don't usually care to list that when selling them to customers. They could be making more money that way, too, but it's their loss.

There are plenty of 100 gram NON genetic giants. So without knowing for sure I wouldnt call it a genetic giant. Visaually compared to other geckos you can call him a visual giant lol :)

Im planning to breed him next year so thats one of the reasons i wanted opinions :) A little heads-up to people interested in the babies that they might just get a little big hehe.

Other than buying hides for him (small stuff is normally too small hehe) i dont mind that hes a big boy :) Apart from his grumpy days hes really sweet and never tried to bite me or been agressive :)

My patternless albino is a good 100g too, and about 10 1/2 inches, which is funny cause my tremper albino is a son of moose and he is nowhere near as big as he is, he is only het for giant. Too bad I can't breed the two:D

True. I tend to trust the length instead of the weight. There can be some freaks and even Giants and Super Giants can be stunted, as I found out with one of the Super Giants I started out with that came from SG x SG. She's normal-sized, possibly even smaller than normal, and produces all Giants so far when bred to non-Giants. I think it was a husbandry issue. Or maybe she was just a runt despite the presence of that gene. Cannot tell.

Anything I am unsure of, I throw in the "possible" qualifier. I notice a lot of people use "Big" similarly. I like that practice to a degree, although it would be cool if the "code" was more widespread.
