I'm from W New York, and obviously new to this.
So some basic questions so I am prepared for the season.
When does the "season" usually start in the Eastern seaboard?
Are there any signs a female is getting ready other than handling her often to look at her abdomen?
My girl isn't comfortable with handling, so I don't really want to disturb her too much when she's obviously not ready.
Do they eat more? Less? Start digging around?
I've seen posted pictures elsewhere of ovulating females.... is it really that obvious when she is?
And for how long does she ovulate?
Does it matter if you catch her more at the end of it rather than the beginning (ie. is there a "best" time for breeding her during the cycle - or just when you see it - add a male?)
And lastly, if you have multiple females in a tank, will they all ovulate at the same time so introducing a male he can just breed them all and then remove him?
Or should I remove each and add them to him then return them?
