How do I check for mouth rot?

Hi, I was just wondering how I would check for mouth rot. I read on a forum today that you can just touch their nose gently and they'll open their mouth as a sign of aggression. That way you can just simply peek into their mouth. I tried it today and Sonny wouldn't open his mouth...he's too nice -.- haha So is there another way to check for mouth rot? I tried to see when he was eating, but it didn't work out. I got him from Petco recently, and I just want to make sure he's free of disease. He's eating and pooping fine, but I just want to make sure. Except today there was a bubble in his poo, but I'm pretty sure that's natural haha Anyways, thanks in advance

I wish Sonny would do that -.- haha I managed to take a picture of Sonny yawning, (I don't know how I did it, but I did xD) and his/her mouth looked clear. So I hope Sonny really is as healthy as he/she seems!

gently rub below their mouth and she or he will probably open it thats what some of my geckos do.

or tap both sides of the jaw at the same time, with your thumb and forefinger.
