I just bought 50 wax worms and i really don't know how to keep them, they're going to be occasional treats for my leopard gecko.
right now i have them in oat meal and for food/water they have lettuce and potato.

Bad news: Wax worms are a pest that lives in honey bee hives. They need a fairly specialized diet to replicate this and probably won't do extremely well on anything you have around the house. Oatmeal, lettuce and potatoes are foods they probably won't touch. I think they do best with a relatively low humidity level so you probably want to remove the lettuce and potato.

Good news: They can live for quite a while without food. The colder the temperature (needs to stay above 40 degrees or so) the longer they live. Any that are a dark color are dead and you probably want to get them out of your container ASAP (they smell kinda rancid if left too long). Last batch I bought lasted about 6-8 weeks in the fridge. By the 7th week those that were left were pretty small as they had used up most of their fat reserves. At room temperature they will live about a week or two.

I keep mine in the fridge as well. I don't dust them though since they're already high in calcium. Unless it falls on a day that I'm supposed to dust with a multivitamin.
