how do you feed mealies to your gecko?

we just got a new gecko from a pet store. the reptile specialist has been feeding them a doz. crickets a day. she was at the pet store 3-4 weeks before we got her. she is eating the crickets well. i'm wondering what method you all use to feed mealies. we have calci-sand on the bottom of our tank. should i put the mealies in a dish? because leos are hunters, how do i get her interesting in the mealies? do i dust them the same way as crickets?

Since you have decided to use sand the best method for feeding mealies would be in a dish. That way you limit the amount of sand the gecko may ingest while hunting. You can dust them the same as crickets. Some people prefer not to dust them because it can clog their pores which they use to breathe making them die a little more quickly. We have not had an issue with that. Usually the mealies are long gone before they have a chance to die.
