How do you have your rack tubs set up?

So I am definitely gonna get a rack system so I can get more leopard geckos without using a lot of room with all the tanks. But, I wanna see how everyone has their tubs set up.( I have done my research but its always better to be able to ask questions and interact with the responders :p )

All I ask is for someone to take a pic of their setup and list what they use. (Tub size too) I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Surprised this hasn't gotten any replies yet, as I know some of the breeders use racks... but then again, all the breeders are /very/ busy this time of year!

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I haven't started using racks yet either.

Sorry I didn't notice this thread before! Here are a few of my tub set ups.

This is a setup for breeding females. Food dish has a vionate/Calcium mixture in it and smaller dish is pure Calcium (The seriously eat a LOT of it!!)

This is a typical male set up - just minus the dish of calcium. I give them a dish now and again but they seem to throw parties and track it everywhere...lol

This is my setup for larger geckos (over 80g) and one pair of females I have living together:

Thank you for replying.

What size tubs are those and what rack do you use? You don't use any bedding with them? Not even paper?

They have a paper towel under the spot they usually poop or under their warm hide. I learn where they "go" and then keep it there. I have several rolls of shelf liner I've been trying to find time to cut to size and try out on the recommendation of another breeder.

The smaller tubs are Iris Mens Shoe Boxes from the container store or sterilite tubs I picked up at Walmart (I have two different racks). The bigger one is an Iris Boot Box or 32qt sterilites I got a at Walmart. The rack that uses Sterilites is home made and the others are Iris 375 series racks from Animal Plastics.

You use underbelly heating right? Do you keep your geckos in their racks year round? (I've been told that most breeders don't do this. But, I disagree)

I do use belly heat and they do live there year round. Not sure where else I'd move 50 geckos and would hate to stress them unnecessarily. They seem to like their homes and routine :)

Thanks so much. This really helped me :D. I plan on getting the rack by my bday in October. But, I wanted to make sure I got everything ready beforehand. ( I can be a little impatient xD )

Here is my homemade rack system :) it has three inch heat tape running on the back of the shelves, and fits both 16 qt rbbermaid or sterlite tubs (for the adults) and 6qt tubs for hatchlings. (ps. these photos are out of date for me. There is now a third level which is full of hatchlings :) But the tub setup is the same on the interior)

each tub has a food bowl, a calcium dish, a water bowl, a cool/dry hide, and a warm/moist hide. Good luck getting your racks! :D

And ps., My seventeenth birthday is in October also! And i have a (step)brother named Michael whose seventeenth birthday is the day after mine... oh the irony!:D

Do you only feed mealworms to them inside the tubs or do you let the crickets run free in there?

i personally dont feed crickets... i only feed mealworms, dubias, pheonix worms, and other random feeders that my local reptile store gets shipped in on occasion... personally, i hate crickets, and they just dont work for me... they always get out somehow and start breeding in my house :(

plus my geckos are too fat and lazy to actually hunt their food :D

And October really is popular! all three of my step siblings share that month with me also! :D

Lucky you :p I wish I didn't have to use crickets but I have a gecko that eats nothing but crickets xD I guess I'll just try my best and use mealworms at first and see if they like it.

Wow lol Lots of bdays in one month xD

awww, that sucks! i managed to switch one of my three year olds to mealworms after she had been fed crickets her whole life though... basically i gave her no other choice... i just kept offering her only mealworms for three weeks, and she refused to eat completely. Then she realized she was hungry one morning, ate all of her mealworms, and has been a mealworm destroyer since then!

she did lose some weight though, but she gained it back within a week!

Mine is still young I tried mealworms for a month and he went from about 29g to 20g So I couldn't take starving him and gave in to his desire for crickets xD
