I am thinking about buying crickets in bulk once i have hatchlings. I currently have a 5 gallon tank housing crickets. If i was to buy 1000 at once how big of a cricket container should i use? Thanks.

Oh and suggestions on buying mealworms in bulk? Should i hold all 1000 in the fridge?
thanks

The crickets you can put in a 10-20 gal (I always used 20gals) and you just put some potatoes in there, with some veggies. I just used veggies that were safe for my beardie - Potatoes, mustard or collard greens, and sometimes apples but they get moldy fast if you don't change them right away. Then for water you can use a peanut butter lid and just put a paper towel with light water on it and refil it daily.
Just put some egg cartons (cardboard) or some paper towel rolls in there for them to hide in and you're set!

A lot of ppl use cat/dog food but I've never been comfortable with that.

Hope this helps!

I use the cricket bins from Armstong. Same ones that most reptile stores here in California use. It comes with the water dispenser and cricket quencher I believe. I recommend against using the sponge they also sell and just go with water crystals. Pretty good quality but if anyone is to order from them then request the white screen top that is advertised, otherwise you get a window screen setup that does not last as long. Hope this helps. :D

I have a nice cricket mash mix of fish food and chicken mash and i have a small poultry watering container with paper towel in it so crickets wont drowned. Im just wondering how much space crickets need in order to survive. I have been housing 50-100 in my 5 gallon for a while with very low death rate. I would like to keep the rate low.
