I here ever one talking about a dummy box for the probe in the rack system. Could someone please send me some picks of one. Because i have no idea what you guys are talking about. I have a 8 shelf high rack system and i just layyed the probe. (NOTE: Not on the flex watt. Taped down so the probe is in the air about 1/2inch off the flex watt on the 4th shelf) Is this OK or am i missing something i have my herpstat ND set at 92.0 All Day and Night. Also does anyone use Night Time Drop if so what do you keep your night times temps at. Spring-Summer/Fall-Winter. Thank i think this will help me alot. :main_thumbsup: :main_yes: . And anything else i might be for getting. :main_rolleyes:

A dummy box is basically an empty box on your shelving with the probe placed inside to replicate temps in all the other boxes. I am having trouble stablizing my temps at the mo as I dont know where to position the probe attached to the end of the heat cable (whether to put it in the box with the stat probe or not)??

I have been told by numerous people when using thermostats its best to place the probe on the surface of the mat to aquire a more accurate temp..

Lets hope someone can answer our questions.

I don't use a dummy box. I tape the probe down on top of the heat tape with an 1/8" - 1/4" piece of cardboard between the probe and heat tape to simulate the bottom of the tubs that the geckos would be in. I still double-check the temperatures inside the tubs and make adjustments to the thermostat as needed. It works just fine (but I use Ranco thermostats for my racks).

Oh, and I keep them at the same temp 'round the clock.
